Too many people avoid the dentist out of fear. Whether your anxiety is linked with a fear of pain or the sound of drills, you are not alone. Dr. Nancy Perez-Medina cares. We offer a variety of sedation options so that all patients can get the care they need and have a comfortable, relaxed visit. We offer several levels of sedation to ensure that you are calm and relaxed through any treatment. Read our testimonials to see how others have benefited from pain-free dental visits.
When only one area of the mouth needs to be numbed, we commonly use local anesthetic (administered via injection) to numb the relevant area. This is common for minor procedures such as cleanings. If dental anxiety is due to a fear of pain, local anesthetic can effectively reduce your anxiety.
Patients with more severe anxieties can sleep through their entire visit. Sedation dentistry does not have to be complicated. Halcion, a common sleeping pill, leaves patients tired and more susceptible to anesthetic. When you wake, your procedure is over and you are ready to be taken home by a companion.
Otherwise known as ‘laughing gas,’ nitrous oxide is very effective at reducing anxiety and pain. Laughing gas takes effect and wears off very quickly, which gives Dr. Perez-Medina a high level of control over your sedation level. It can be used during a variety of procedures.
